Dali
大理 was once a swamp inhabited by dragons that created natural disasters to deter humans from arriving. Known for their resilience, the 3 pagodas
崇圣寺三塔 were built to ward off their evil. Although built in the Tang dynasty, the main pagoda still stands 227 feet high. Valuable Buddhist sculptures, scriptures and medicines telling the history of Dali were found inside.

The banyan tree represents all China's ethnic groups, representing long life with firmly planted roots that hold onto the earth. Banyan trees are regarded as symbols of the holy, spiritual and auspicious.
